A new firmware version is available now for Impinj Speedway RAIN RFID readers, adding support for new China-specific Speedway GX2 reader models announced on May 14, and updating the Linux kernel with the latest available security and stability fixes.

The newly introduced Impinj Speedway GX2 (-CHN) readers have been upgraded to comply with recently updated spurious emission requirements for regulatory compliance in the China market, with no other design or specification changes. Reader deployments in China require the new China-designated Speedway GX2 readers, and the minimum firmware version for these readers is 7.6.4.

Firmware version 7.6.4 also includes an update to Linux kernel 5.4.302, incorporating the latest available bug fixes and security patches for the 5.4 LTS branch, improving reliability, stability, and security over the previous firmware release. Impinj recommends updating your readers to ensure they are running the most current supported firmware release.
